Hop on board the Rocky Mountaineer, and trace the route of Gold-seekers and cowboys, travel across the vast the National Parks and visit charming historical Victoria, the city of gardens, British Columbia’s capital, and probably the most British-style town outside of the United Kingdom.   

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN VANCOUVER

Vancouver is Canada`s third most important city after Toronto and Montréal, and this wonderful metropolis enjoys a superb location between the Burrard Inlet and the Fraser Delta and is surrounded by water on all sides, with a snow-capped mountain backdrop.  It`s often voted one of the top three most liveable cities in the world and you`ll soon see why.

DAY 2: VANCOUVER

Today there is much to see and discover in Vancouver with its fascinating neighbourhoods including the Chinese quarter, Stanley Park with its First Nations Totem poles and 1000 acres of beautiful parkland, and the old town of Gastown with its cobbled streets. Cross the Lion`s Gate Bridge and you`ll reach the north of the City, Capilano Canyon and  the Capilano bridge suspended at 70 metres over the river below, one of British Columbia`s most popular attractions.

DAY 3: VANCOUVER - KAMLOOPS - ROCKY MOUTAINNER

This morning meet at Vancouver station and climb aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. Sink into your inclinable and spacious seat, and enjoy the excellent commentary and impeccable service on board. Experience the incredible mountains from Vancouver to Kamloops from the comfort of your seat aboard this very special train. Some of the highlights of your journey include the turbulent waters at Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon, and the rugged slopes and rock faces which border the Thomson River. Stay overnight in Kamloops.

DAY 4: KAMLOOPS - JASPER - ROCKY MOUTAINEER

Your rail adventure continues north-east through the majestic Canadian Rockies and the Province of Alberta. The highlights of this route include the magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres, stunning Pyramid Falls and the ascension bridge above the Yellowhead Pass in Jasper National Park. Your rail journey comes to an end as you arrive in Jasper this evening. Pick up your hire car and head for your hotel with some unforgettable memories from the past few days.

DAY 5: JASPER

Don`t miss Jasper National Park, the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, and despite its popularity it still retains its sense of wilderness. Take advantage of the Miette Hot Springs, the hottest natural springs in the park, or simply enjoy one of the numerous walks or hikes in the park.

DAY 6: JASPER - LAKE LOUISE

Your journey continues along one of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Icefields Parkway. This road stretches 300km and is simply breathtaking! You`ll discover natural sights of more than 100 glaciers, impossible to imagine in Europe. Here it’s Mother Nature and the Canadian wildlife, you won`t see a village or a house along the way.  

Suggested Excursion:
Take the famous Snow Coach excursion on Athabasca glacier. Head toward the magnificent Lake Louise, tucked away in the mountains at almost 2000 metres of altitude and fed by Victoria Glacier. The lake is known for its stunning blue-green coloured water, which is due to fine sediment called rock flour which originates in the glacial waters. These sediments stay in the water and are reflected by the sunlight.

DAY 7: LAKE LOUISE - BANFF

Located at 1372 metres above sea level, Banff is the highest town in Canada and is one of the most popular sites in the Rockies with its Hot Springs and its National Park. Today take the time to visit Banff’s surrounding area: Bow Falls, the Hodoos (a selection of unusual natural pillars), Mount Cascade, Lake Minnewanka etc.

• Visit the Cave and Basin National Historical Site
• Banff Park Museum

DAY 8: BANFF - CALGARY

City tour of Calgary, the Capital of the rodeo! Visit Stephen Walk, Calgary’s pedestrian shopping area located in the charming old town.  We suggest you discover Heritage Park, Canada’s largest living history museum. You`ll come across some historic treasures from the first West Canadian pioneers and friendly costumed town folk to show you around and 180 historical exhibits. Ride on an authentic steam train, cruise on Calgary’s only paddle-wheeler and tour the Park on a horse-drawn Chuck-wagon!

DAY 9: CALGARY - HOME

Return to the airport this morning for your flight home, and drop off your rental car.
